What is Ionised Water?
Ionised water is simply water that has mineral ions in it. Minerals are found in all natural water sources on Planet Earth, and all water found in nature is ionised to some degree. There are two kinds of ionised water:

- Acidic Ionised Mineral Water – Used for sanitation
The minerals found in ionised water are what make the water alkaline or acidic. Alkaline water is recommended by health professionals and the World Health Organization for drinking because alkaline minerals are good for you. Acidic mineral water should not be drunk because it will contain minerals that are not good for you.

How is Ionised Water Made?
Minerals in water become ionised when they gain or lose an electron. The alkalinity or acidity of the minerals in ionised water is changed by ionizing the minerals in the water. Home water ionizers use a process called electrodialysis to ionize water. The process makes both alkaline and acidic waters at the same time because it depends on a special membrane (called a cation-exchange membrane) in the ionizer that causes the minerals found in the water to separate into two sides. Alkaline minerals have a negative charge, and acidic minerals have a positive charge.
Why is Alkaline ionised Water Good for You?
The minerals found in alkaline water are beneficial, and necessary for your good health. A water ionizer simply concentrates those minerals in your drinking water for you, and puts a negative electrical charge on the minerals.
The negative charge on the minerals is very beneficial to your health. Doctors refer to it as negative Oxidation Reduction Potential, or ORP for short. ORP measures the ability of the water to donate its negative electrical charge to positively-charged molecules, which are called oxidants. Oxidants in the body are called free radicals, they are considered to be a significant factor in aging and disease. Drinking alkaline ionised water with negative ORP is believed to counter the damaging effects of free radicals in the body.
